Woman Displays "Potato Chips That Look Like Countries the U.S. Has Bombed" Collection

3/18/02 - Pear Ridge, Iowa - Helen Rutledge, local seamstress and Bingo champion, recently showed off her "potato chips that look like countries the U.S. has bombed" collection on her local cable access channel. Mrs. Rutledge, of late night talk show guest fame, decided to scrap her "Potato Chips that look like celebrities" collection because it was just too difficult.

Helen takes her collection very seriously, and plans on leaving her chips, which range from BBQ to Salt & Vinegar, to the Smithsonian - provided they construct a new wing large enough to house the chips.

"My eyesight is not what it used to be, and I just can't keep up with all these celebrities. Besides, once I find one, that celebrity has been forgotten by the public. My only hope is that they turn up on FOX's Celebrity Boxing one day. In any case, finding chips of countries the U.S. has invaded or bombed is a lot of fun. There are so many to choose from. I'm not too concerned if one breaks. I can always find others."

Central America

Mrs. Rutledge's collection includes Afghanistan, Vietnam, Korea, Cambodia, Sudan, Bosnia, Haiti, Yugoslavia, Somalia, Iraq, Panama, The Philippines, Libya, Bolivia, Grenada, Nicaragua, Lebanon, Laos, and Guatemala - among others. She even has a chip of West Virginia, to commemorate the military standoff with mineworkers there in 1921.

Mrs. Rutledge does have one chip in the collection that does not look like a country, which she calls the "Tom Ridged Chip." This particular chip is a favorite of hers, as it is "not only ridged, but also stiff, petrified, and unbreakable," according to eyewitnesses.
