B.C.'s
Thor Suing Segway Founder Michael Kamen
12/7/01
- Thor, of B.C. comics fame, is reportedly filing a lawsuit against
inventor Michael Kamen for copyright infringement. According to
the suit, Mr. Kamen "willfully
pirated blueprints for his new invention, known in the press as
'It'".
As evidence,
Thor's team of lawyers, which include Grog and "the literate
caveman with the pegleg", claimed that "it", which
costs $3000, has existed in printed form since 1958, the first
year Johnny Hart published B.C."The evidence is clear. Thor
not only developed the personal transporter, he perfected it.
Just because American copyright law did not exist in 38000 BC
is no reason to deny Thor of the patent. The personal transporter
has seen many variations throughout the Jurassic period, as chronicled
in the pages of B.C. comics.. All of them were driven by Thor's
genius."
The legal
team maintains that Kamen's claim that the product is "revolutionary"
is "ludicrosity of the highest order" considering the
ubiquity of the product since prehistoric eras.
In a related
lawsuit, the NAACP asserts that
the promotional videos for the Segway product are racist,
as "no blacks are portrayed in the advertisements at all."
Apparently this lawsuit is being met with a mixed reaction in
the African-American community, as many prominent members reportedly
"wouldn't be caught dead" using the product.
